chief elemure ogunyemi has finally passed away on the 17th of september 2014 @ his resident after a brief illness may his soul rest in perfect peace
An Ado-Ekiti based traditional musician, Chief Elemure Ogunyemi, has debunked the rumour being peddled that he is dead.
Elemure, who blamed the rumour on his rivals in the music industry, especially those in the same genre with him, said this while speaking with journalists in Ado-Ekiti at his residence in Ekute quarters on Wednesday. He said that although he was a diabetic patient, he had been managing his health very well and had been coping well with life.
The musician said he had a performance last Saturday and was shocked to hear the ‘news’ of his death. The singer, who will turn 65 on August 25, said he had been dragged before the Ewi of Ad-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, on three ocassions because “ I enjoy patronage far more than them.”
He noted, “I was at home enjoying with my family when calls began to pour into my mobile phone from my friends and admirers, trying to confirm what was going on. In fact , the situation was so disturbing that I had to invite some of them to my house to come and see for themselves. It is not only embarrassing but unfortunate that some people are wishing me dead when I didn’t even fall sick.There was even a time they claimed I had been paralysed but they are all lies.”
